Bareminerals is by far one of my longest- standing beloved brands in all of beauty and especially cleaner, more natural-based beauty. Second only to their multi-award-winning mineral powder foundations and concealers, my favorite products from the line are their gorgeous lipcolors. They are the makers of my #1 favorite lipgloss of all time, the Moxie Plumping gloss, which you can read my review of here. Today, I am going to share my thoughts about a newfound love from them, the Mineralst Hydra-Smoothing Lipstick-- one of the lines first vegan formulas!

Though it is of the standard, tried and true bullet lipstick format, the formula of the Mineralist lipsticks truly stands out from the crowd. To rattle of some of the wonderful ingredients, there is a large percentage of seabuckthorn oil in the formula, which imparts softness and strength to the skin on the lips and pomegranate and jojoba extracts to help fill in lines. True to their name , these ingredients and all the rest of the formula make this lipstick is incredibly smooth-feeling and does not settle into an cracks or emphasize any textureon the lips while instantly gliding over and also providing some nourishment to dry patches. As smoothing and hydrating as this lipstick is, however, it is not all that creamy. In other words, it is much more of a stiffer, balmier texture as opposed to feeling thick or heavy. I really appreciate this because it means that this lipstick is not apt to wander outside the lip lines at all, especially as I put on more layers, and I also find it more transfer resistant compared to other similar hydrating lipsticks, As a side note, I also enjoy the fresh raspberry-like smell and flavor.

Upon first applying, the finish of the lipstick appears almost like a sheer watercolor but with no gloss or obvious sheen. I'd describe it as a fresh bloom of petal-like color gracibng the lips. It is a really unique and super pretty finish. I particularly think it is an awesome look for spring and summer, especially to make bolder colors look softer and breezier, and similarly, this would be one of my top lipstick formula choices for anyone wanting to try a darker or brighter lipstick but somewhat shy of a full-on opaque color. You can also build the color up for greater density, but even three or four layers still offer the same silky, lightweight finish that appears very flushy and natural on the lips. It is only the color that will be richer, yet the formula never feathers or feels thick, gummy, or heavy. And I really love this!

Currently, the Mineralist Hydra-Smooth lipstick is available in 25 colors on the Bareminerals site with more select ranges across beauty stores and department stores where Bareminerals is sold. The spectrum of color tones and undertones is impressively vast from nudes to floral-tone pinks and berries, to a selection of three STUNNING red shades (this is a range that I think would be so easy for anyone to find their perfect red in), and a few vampy colors too. I own two shades at the moment Confidence (an unusual interesting terracotta rose with a red undertone, so it reads as neutral and not as boldly orange or earthy as other terracottas) and Wisdom (a bright orchid purple with magenta shift, which has become my go-to for something extra vibrant and fun). But I cannot wait to try even more of these gorgeous lipsticks in the future. To try them for yourself, you can find this both at Sephora and Ulta in stores and online, Bareminerals stand-alone boutiques as well as their official website, and most major department stores with a Bareminerals counter. They currently are priced at $20 USD.
