Product Review: Bareminerals Moxie Plumping Lipgloss (Plus A Holiday 2019 Gift Idea)

Beauty lover though I am,one key product of most people's makeup bags remains conspicuously absent in my collection most of the time-- lip gloss. There are a handful of formulas, though, that are the exception, and my very favorite is the Moxie Plumping Lipgloss by Bareminerals.

Moxie Plumping Lipgloss offers full color, a sheeny finish with rich moisturizing shea butter and avocado oils blended into the formula. Despite their creaminess, these stay in place super well and offer full coverage across the mouth with surprising but beautifully rich pigmentation for a lipgloss. Some of the shades almost rival a liquid lipstick in terms of color depth and opacity but none of the drying finish or cracked look to the lips. That said, they also provide a similar benefit to a liquid lipstick in that these have never bled outside the lipline, no matter how bold or dark the shade. This I think is largely due to the pointed edge of the doe foot applicator, which you can also use to create an actual "lipliner" effect with the gloss as well if you want a more defined edge.

Though it is never sticky, I find this gloss to be about the most tenacious I have ever worn Usually, for me it hangs on about 3 hours with no fading and even stays after some light eating or drinking. Even beyond that point, some of the deeper shades can leave a stain if the product was layered in multiple coats to begin with. Yet, when the color will fade eventually (like every lipcolor does), this gloss is lovely to reapply with its smooth coverage and lovely clove and mint smell and taste. This clove and mint infusion is what gives the slight plumping effect that the gloss is named for. Fortunately, the effect is subtle and is not at all stinging or painful, which can be a far cry from a lot of lip plumpers out there. Not only that, the clove and mint in here also can help to freshen the breath too when touching up throughout the day!

Moxie Lipgloss is available in 10 shades total. I really love Maverick, a reddish coppery rosewood that reminds me of the color of a violin. This shade is one of my favorite shades I've ever worn for this time of year. I also love Rebel, a classic, creamy pale pink, and Daredevil, a shimmery purple blackberry. Though the collection of colors is somewhat small, Bareminerals has given a variety of different tones and finishes (some have glitter and shimmer while others do not) to this range, and I truly feel that everyone will at least find one, if not multiple, that they will love, So if you are looking for a great gloss that does it all with a comfortable texture with the infusion of natural lip conditioners but with rich, bold color payoff, Marvelous Moxie might be just the thing.
