Hello lovelies!

Today, I come to you briefly to share about a fascinating video I just watched, historic fashion and lifestyle blogger Bernadette Banner's Victorian skincare routine. In the video, she explores a 1911 salon ledger that explains not only the recipes for five products but also the recommended manner for using them. Presumably, this routine could have been used universally but was especially geared to the middle-class everyday working woman within the early parts of the American industrial revolution. All of the ingredients and items she used to make and mimic the products and techniques were found through Amazon (if you're curious to try out any of the blends yourself), and she consulted with modern skincare literature before the experiment ensuring the recipes would be safe on most people's skins.

What struck me the most in her making of the formulas and week-long following of the routine is how many of the products mimic today's products just in rawer forms. But in some cases (such as the toner- like product called "skin cleaner") it is clear where modern knowledge and formula have improved things in creating more gentle yet still effective products for the skin. So for beauty lovers and history buffs alike, (or maybe your both like me) this video and all of Bernadette's channel was a fascinating place to watch and learn. Watch here!
