No doubt for both makeup newbies and enthusiasts alike, Sephora is one of the gold standard destinations for all things beauty. It is also an awesome place to find beauty-themed gifts for everyone on your list. But as exciting as specialized Holiday gift sets are, I also enjoy purchasing my beauty gift items that are available any time of year. This way, if the person I buy the items for really enjoys something, they can buy it again when they run out. Also, there is less of a need to worry about the items selling out if you are having to do some last-minute shopping. Here are some of my favorite gift picks—not from the gift section—that I would both love to give and to receive this year.
Bareminerals Gen Nude Eyeshadow Palettes $29 USD: Bareminerals makes some of the best pressed powder eyeshadows on the market. They are smooth and creamy, pigmented and rich, but soft and easy to wear on the eyelids. In particular, these are my pick for starter eyeshadows as well as for anyone with sensitive eyes. Their three Gen Nude Eyeshadow Palettes each contain six beautiful eyeshadows in a mix of soft, pigmented mattes, glowy satins, and shimmery but not glittery metallic finishes in neutral color schemes that are perfect for day-to-day looks but that can also be effortlessly vamped up for some nighttime glamour, making them servicable for anyone your giving them to. The three colorways availablle are Rose Palette (a selection of pink and mauve-based neutrals), Neutral Palette (a selection of midtone warm-based neutrals) and Latte (a selection of rich sunset-toned neutrals). Whichever you'd choose to give, it will be a welcome addition to an eyeshadow collection, big or small and will combine effortlessly with other shades and palettes incorporated into one look.
Juliette Has a Gun Discovery Kit 7+1 Fragrances $25 USD: What is more luxurious gift than perfume and a perfume that is truly unique and different. Juliette has a Gun is an avante garde French perfume house that is one of my favorites carried at Sephora. The line of fragrances offers very unique alternatives to the traditional sweet-sweet perfumes found in most department stores, containing everything from the musky "your skin but better" minimalist scent of Not a Perfume to the raspberry decadence of scent simply called MMMM... to true classic florals like Mad Madame to modern woodsy scents like Anyway. The Discovery Kit contains a deluxe trial size of Not a Perfume plus 7 more of the line's permanent collection, some of which I mentioned above. Truly, everyone will find a favorite, if not multiple favorites, here.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Creme Lipstick $32 USD: Having a piece of designer label glamour is always a treat, but much of the time I find when couture fashion brands branch out into cosmetics, the quality of the makeup does not match the prestige of the brand. This is not the case with anything I've tried from Marc Jacobs Beauty so far, and these lipsticks are the creme de la creme of the range. So often with a classic bullet-style lipstick there is a compromise between pigmentation and creaminess of formula and also comfortableness and length of wear. But the Le Marc Creme Lipstick lipstick formula truly is the best of all worlds in that it glides on, is super creamy but the colors are pigmented and lush and last a good amount of time and leave an even stain effect after a meal, but also reapply quite easily. As far as the color selection is concerned, you cannot go wrong. Some of my favorite shades include Boy Gorgeous (a rosy red berry), So Sofia (a fresh pink coral), and, if you are looking for a great Christmas red or anytime at all, try Oh Miley (a bright neutral red).
Drunk Elephant Rise + Glow Brightening Duo $23 USD: For the skincare fanatic or someone who is just looking to re-energize their appearance through the dull winter weather, this is a great option. Drunk Elephant is a luxury skincare line created from some of the best and most gentle but powerful skincare ingredients. What makes this brand especially great for gift giving is that they really strive to formulate with not only scientifically proven to be effective but to also avoid anything that is suspected to be a potential irritants. This means total avoidance of sulfates, fragrances, silicones, and mineral oils, among other things. The products included in the Rise + Glow Duo are two bestselling products from their range and so happen to be two serums that can be added into any existing routine. They are the famous C-Firma Day Serum (one of those most powerfully brightening Vitamin C treatments that I have ever tried) and the B Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum (a vitamin-enriched hylauronic serum that will smooth and amp up the hydration of any skin type without feeling heavy or clogging pores). No two products could be universally more perfect for helping the skin keep its comfort and glow this winter, and with the products being powerful and these mini sizes being so generous, they should give them beautiful skin all-season long.
SEPHORA Collection Eyes Uncomplicated Eye Brush Set $39 USD: Brushes really change the ease and the quality of your makeup application, and SEPHORA collection brushes of all kinds are among the best I’ve ever used and are recommended highly by many professionals. This set is any eye makeup lovers dream and contains everything they’d ever need. There are 5 brushes in this set including 1 large and 1 small all-over eyeshadow brush, 1 fluffy crease brush, 1 angled liner brush, and one shader brush. I particularly enjoy the crease brushes that Sephora makes as they are not too big, which helps to make controlled blending of the deeper shades one typically uses in the crease quite easy. Though one may change up the shades they use on the daily, a good set of eye brushes is something that is relied upon daily and brushes need to be replaced over time and can often be quite expensive. Here, the full range of eye brushes is covered, and the brushes are of great quality and will last a long time, serving them in the most natural of no-makeup makeup looks to the sultriest of smoky eyes.
While it is always fun to see the shiny releases that come out each year from every brand for the Holidays, sometimes some of the best gift ideas are things we see year-round and that our loved ones can find again if they truly fall in love with them and want to repurchase. But no matter what great gifts you find, I hope you will enjoy all the browsing and shopping going forward this year and find lots of inspiration for gifts for your beauty-loving friends … and maybe yourself too!
