A few months ago, thanks to my best friend and sister, I got the opportunity to sample one of the gold standards in luxury Green Beauty skincare, Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical serum. I had heard of this product for years and swooned over its vast list of potent plant oils and extracts for years, and was so happy when my dear friend gave me the last dregs of her bottle (with which she had profound skin success) to share the love and have me try. And I must say, I am deeply, deeply impressed by it.

The Active Botanical Serum is the original product of the now-two-product brand Vintner's Daughter. Given the fact that the brand has been around since 2012 and their range consists of only two products to date, it clearly shows that brand truly values the excellence of crafting a formula and ensuring ultra high-quality ingredients for their powerful, multi-faceted benefits they deliver to the skin. There are 22 ingredients in total, all of which are cold-pressed essential oils or carrier oils with no water, fillers, or other ingredients that might dilute them or negatively effect or soften their potency. This is a product where you truly get only ingredients that have a direct, discernible impact on the skin and in their purest form. The functions of the serum boast everything from potent anti-aging from frankincense as well as Vitamin A-rich carrot seed oil with purportedly similar benefits to retinol in terms of encouraging cell repair and strengthening and possibly reducing wrinkles. There is moisture barrier- supportive evening primrose oil, pore clarifying t and Vitamin C- laden tamanu, hazelnut, which is great for skin firming and infusing it with Vitamin E for lightweight added moisture, and many more. Even the more commonplace ingredients in the formula such as rose, rosehip, and lavender for example, are noticeably such high quality and well- produced that they truly hold their own. This blend is so powerful and well-balanced, that I truly believe that it is something that can address concerns and be helpful for any skin type. And despite its vast array of oils, the texture feels wonderful smooth and skins deeply into the skin with little effort, making it a perfect daytime face oil to layer with a moisturizer or SPF and makeup as well as also a comfortable yet potent overnight treatment.

Its quick absorbency is a true testament to why this product is called a serum and not simply an oil as it appears to be and texturally feels when you first put it on. This is a product that seems to set straight to work in the deeper layer of the skin. My skin drinks it up right way, yet still, it feels comfortable and lightly moisturized, even if I layer no other additional moisturizing or occlusive product on top of it, letting its magic work alone for a night on my face.

Out of all the wonderful things it does, the supreme benefit of the Active Botanical Serum for my skin, above all others, has been its success as an anti-inflammatory. Redness on my cheeks appeared reduced within minutes of rubbing it in and acne spots were calmed if not in some cases gone overnight. I remember very first night I had this, I had a hormonal breakout start to pop up along my jaw that was quite congested and throbbing and with a gentle massage into the spot, the pain had not only been soothed in a few minutes, but the spot itself was visibly smaller and almost gone by morning. I can't say that every breakout would be that quickly healed, especially not in one night, by the Active Botanical Serum, but I can say its effects on helping with inflammation are unlike most anything else I've tried, and pretty much every single ingredient in here has some component to it in assisting the skin in thwarting or healing itself from the effects of environmental damage or other aggressors in terms of not only being moisturizing and reducing inflammation but also in facilitating collagen production and providing loads of antioxidants.

All of this, I feel, makes this product a great choice for sensitive skin. If you know you react adversely to products with a lot of essential oils,I'd steer clear, but my sensitive skin, for one, loves the healing and balancing effects of essential oils and has responded very well to this product. And the experience of using it has been a gorgeous treat, not only for its effects on my skin but also its lovely texture and its earthy, grounding aroma of turmeric mixed with the fragrance of the many flower extracts here of rose, lavender, and jasmine to name a few. So if you have sensitive skin, or any kind of skin at all, and are looking for an all-around skin-supporting powerhouse, I highly recommend the Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum. This is a luxury in Green Beauty for sure, retailing at $185 at Vintner's Daughter.com and Green Beauty boutiques such as the Detox Market for a 30 ml (1 oz) bottle, and $65 for the smaller 5ml (O.0338 oz) bottle. With its, numerous variety of functions and properties, I think this is a wonderful choice to be the lone active step in a skin routine, especially for those wanting to move to a more product minimal routine.
