Product Review: Rituel de Fille Inner Glow Creme Pigment

Rituel de Fille is a indie line of cruelty-free Green Beauty that has captured my intrigue for years. The line was started by three sister artists who use their love of beauty, artistic edge, love of alchemy and color, and eco=consciousness all equally in product design, formulation, and color selection. This creates a truly unique, magical-looking and feeling makeup line for those who love clean beauty but want something just a little bit different than the "natural" or "no-makeup makeup look".

I decided that their Inner Glow Creme Pigment would be the first item I would try. It is probably one of their most recognized products and certainly falls in line with one of my biggest beauty explorations-- the world of blush and most specifically, cream blush.

In truth, though, the Inner Glow Creme Pigment is not merely a cream blush but rather a multi-use cream product that is safe to use on eyes, cheeks, and lips alike-- very much in keeping with this artistry -inspired line, encouraging the wearer to paint, smudge, smear, and play to their hearts content.

As far as the formula is concerned, it feels very much like a cream lipstick pressed into a disc-shaped pan. The color is very easy to pick up on the finger and, though I have not tried it any other way except with my fingers, probably would be also on a synthetic brush or any applicator suitable for cream products, The formula, however, thins and sheers out beautifully-- and quickly too-- upon application to the skin. The color remains vivid and with medium but buildable pigmentation and coverage, but it blends very seamlessly, whether you put on a little or really go to town.

As I mentioned, Rituel de Fille is a Green Beauty brand, and this formula certainly proves how natural beauty ingredients can be made into great quality longlasting formulations. The Inner Glow Creme Pigment is composed primarily of jojoba and castor seed oils, which give the formula its lightweight creaminess and skin-like texture and look on the face while beeswax, lanolin, and caranuba wax help the formula to stay in place without a sticky feel and dry onto the skin once the formula sets. Impressively, this velvety formula adheres well to the cheeks and eyes but also feels very comfortable on the lips. I would liken the feel of it to that of a sheerer, matte finish lipstick such as the Glossier Gen G lipsticks of which I am a huge fan. You can read my thoughts on those here. Similarly to those as well, the Inner Glow Cream pigment also leaves that matte stain effect on the lips after the color begins to wear away, This was not something i was expecting the formula to, but it was an awesome surprise!

There are currently 7 shades available in the Inner Glow Cream Pigment, ranging from several shades of pink and berry to neutrals to even a black pigment called Eclipse. The color I chose is Eros, which is described as a sandy beige, On me, it reads very much a tawny mauve shade that can easily work as both a blush and a contouring shade on my very pale, cool-undertoned skin and could even maybe work as a sheer bronzer if applied around the temples or dotted across the nose. I also have my eye on Lust, which is a pinky rose berry shade and Frenzy which a plum wine color. There is literally not a color in this range I would not be keen to try. Even Eclipse, the purpley black intrigues, but if you are looking for something a bit lighter and fresher, Desire (the cool-toned pink lavender), Lovesick, (the peachy pink), and Rapture (the true bright pink) also seem like beautiful options.

The Inner Glow Creme Pigment by Rituel de Fille has really inspired me to think about applying and using makeup in rich, new, and creative ways. I am impressed by its quality as well as its versatility, and for anyone who is looking for a great, cleanly-formulated cream color pigment for blush or otherwise, and especially if they maybe want to try their hand at an unconventional shade, I would highly, highly recommend. I will also be looking forward to dabbling into more of Rituel de Fille's beauty alchemy in times to come.
