While I do love to play and experiment with fragrances and bath and body products especially, there are times I get attached to a particular scent for how it suits a particular time and place. For the Holidays, no scent speaks to more Christmas cheer for me than Philosophy Snow Angel.
Snow Angel is a cool, crisp floral scent, featuring prominent notes of jasmine and soft green melon with a subtle sparkle of warm orange blossom shimmering at the top that invigorates as well as soothes what might otherwise be a sharp, sweet fruity floral from reading too prickly or overly heady. What's interesting to me about this fragrance is that if you read its notes on paper, one would probably guess that this is a summer fragrance. Yet, the combination of the clean, mellow florals and the slight presence of the melon note, really give this scent a cooling effect. It does remind me of an imaginary interpretation of what snow would smell like or perhaps a perfume that a dainty Snow Queen (or angel...) ,might wear. I really love it for a softer take on a wintry fragrance. Where most fragrances marketed for cold weather are very dense and serious and heavy, this is so refreshing and universally appealing whether you like fresh fragrances or are more of a floral person like me. I love how this fragrance represents the season without a presence of mint or wintergreen so common in more cool winter or alpine-inspired fragrances. Though I appreciate those kinds of scents, they very typically seem almost too masculine for my tastes on myself. Snow Angel, on the other hands, is a decidedly feminine fragrance to my nose, and I feel very at home when I use it.
Being one of Philosophy's most popular seasonal scents (they usually around October or so in preparation for the Holiday Season), Snow Angel is offered in an array of products My favorite is the classic shampoo, shower gel, bubble bath that comes in a variety of sizes with the standard 16 oz size costing $27 USD at retail value. The shampoo, bubble, bath shower gel is a decadent treat of creamy sudsy bottles that makes you truly feel like a kid again, but a kid having a sweet-smelling luxury bath experience with a clean, fresh feel as soon as you rinse off.
Like most all of their shampoo, bubble bath, gels, Snow Angel has a very light scent concentration, which makes it perfect to layer with the many lotions that Philosophy makes in the fragrance. Their newest addition to their family of lotions is their cloud cream, which is a product exclusive to QVC, and the fluffiest lightweight lotion Philosophy has made to date and is perfect for those who need extra moisture but dislike the sticky texture of most body creams. Currently at the time of this review, QVC has a set of two cloud creams in the Snow Angel scent for $49 USD regular price. Rounding out the collection, Philosophy also makes an Eau de Parfum version of this scent which retails for $50 USD for 2 oz. All products with the Snow Angel scent are limited edition but get re-introduced nearly every Holiday Season.
If you are looking for a refreshing winter scent that will just make you feel pretty and calm all season-long or would like to give anyone on your shopping list a truly beautiful, classic scent from the house of Philosophy, I highly recommend giving Snow Angel a try. It is truly a beauty. You can find Philosophy Snow Angel in individual products as well as gift sets at Ulta in store and online, many major department stores, through QVC, and on Philsophy.com.
