Khus Khus is a new-to- me line of luxury Green Beauty line that combines the principles of Indian holistic medicinal practices of Ayurveda and modern herbalism and luxury. Though most widely famous for their sumptuous bodycare, the brands seems to have been recently amping up their facial skincare game. I was blessed enough to receive both a face product, the D Drop Humectant factor and their gorgeously scented Lemon body potion as a part of a subscription to Beauty Heroes, which features two luxe Green beauty innovations per month from the same brand. I was subscribed for three months as a Christmas gift from my best friend and sister and feel that many a review on the products I have and will receive from them will become a regular addition to La Petite Rose henceforth. But today, I will be talking about the gorgeous range Khus Khus and one of if not their very latest skincare innovation, the D Drop Humectant factor.
The D Drop humectant factor is at its core a hydrating serum. However, it is different from most of its kind due to the exclusion of hyaluronic acid, which is a molecule known for holding up to 1,0000 times its weight in water to attract and lock in moisture. However, if used in a dry environment hyaluronic acid is actually not that effective of an ingredient to use because there is not as much water available for it to pull into the skin and may actually leave you feeling drier in the long-term as it only can pull out the water up and out of the deepest layers of your skin and bring it closer to the surface, leaving you more dehydrating long-term.
Instead, the D Drop Humectant factor works with mostly hemp liposomes and watermelon ferment to drive skin-loving vitamins such as A and C into the deep layers to help keep the skin healthy, plump, and bouncy. Additionally, the hemp liposomes also contain some phytoextracts including CBD that help to calm and soothe irritation and also help to encourage cell regeneration and repair, but with no amount of exfoliating or aggressive resurfacing mechanism. This is skin renewal that works more overtime rather than giving you a quick fix or an instant glow, but overall, it is a much gentler way to approach renewed and fresher skin, especially if you are like me and your skin tends to be sensitive and reactive. And speaking of easing sensitivity and irritation, this serum is also very generously doses with a lovely bit of French peppermint hydrosol, which gives this product a mild, lighter-than-air fresh smell but that also brings down the feeling of heat within the skin and may help to improve redness overtime.
Though I tend to the dry side of skin types, I really, really appreciate how lightweight and quickly absorbed this serum is. It feels both in texture and in effect like a shot of highly-concentrated water on your face. This makes this serum brilliant for a few reasons. One, this serum is easy to put on and you don't have to rub it in forever or wait for it to soak in before putting on other products on top of (though, to be honest, on hot, no makeup days I have used this as a standalone hydrator/moisturizing product and been fine) . It would also layer gorgeously with any SPF product or makeup you'd pair with it without any issue, it sinks in so fast. And secondly, you can palpably feel it as it goes down deep into your skin's pores. I would even say it has a mildly tightening, pore refining effect but somehow in a way that is not drying at all, even with also the cooling effect from the French peppermint but that just feels firming and quenching to the face. This effect for me makes this serum an ideal product for the summer and/or when my skin is breaking out or is just feeling a bit stressed or hot and bothered. I would also highly recommend this for combination or oily skin types as well who may struggle to find deeply hydrating products that wear lightly and don't leave a tacky or greasy feel on this skin or become too oily throughout the day.
Overall, I think the D Drop Humectant Factor is a great hydrating product, but that is an even more powerful smoother, soother, and skin refresher than I almost ever found before. If your skin just continuously feels uncomfortable or stressed out, this product could very well be the relaxing breather it needs. Used on its own or layered with other serums or oils or underneath a moisturizer, it is an easy product to slot into anyone's skincare routine and tailor it to their needs or to their skin's current condition. You can find it on the Khus Khus official website or purchase it on Shop,Beauty-Heroes.com for $38 USD.
