As I have mentioned before in other articles and reviews here on La Petite Rose, mascaras marketed as being either "clean" or "Green" Beauty are more often than not problematic for me. For one, I have somewhat sensitive eyes anyway that have gotten even more sensitive in the past couple of years, so finding a mascara of any kind that doesn't irritate them and performs well can be hard. Then, you add to the problem that many natural-based mascaras out their are so oil laden that they are very prone to smudging, and they often just don't deliver as dramatic results in length but most especially in thickness and volume, as their more conventional counterparts. A few exceptions to this rule previously discussed on here are the Lily Lolo mascara and Ilia Limitless Lash mascara, but still having the variety of ones that work for me in Green Beauty as much as standard is still a relative rarity.

Jones Road The Mascara is one that I have been getting on well with recently, though. I received a mini size as a Christmas gift, and using it so far, I have to say I'm impressed. One feature that stands out to me is its curved wand. I don't usually see mascara brushes done in that shape, and while I appreciate the lash-lift that this shape of brush gives, sometimes it can make catching each lash as you swipe the product on. This is not so much of a problem with The Mascara. In fact, I find my lashes are not only evenly coated but rather beefed up by this product. It is rare to find a mascara that lifts the lashes and provides a curved effect while also giving the appearance of thicker lashes. But to my eyes-- on my eyes-- this somehow manages to do it. If I had to describe in a single word the look this gives my lashes, it would be "fluffy", and the bushy, lifted lashes are so pretty and truly seem to perk up my eyes, making me look more awake. Where the effect does lack for me is in length, so if you are looking for elongated lashes so stretched that they touch your brows, I would look elsewhere.

The formula of The Mascara begins it's life as a fairly wet one. This is typical of my experience of more natural-based mascaras that are often infused with quite a lot of different oils meaning it can be prone to smudging as you initially apply it on the first days of use. That said, I experienced this phenomena less so with The Mascara much less so than many other Green or "cleaner" beauty ones I've tried. The product also sets and dries quickly ones on the lashes and as you continue to use the tube over time, the formula becomes even less goopy. My best friend who has also used The Mascara had this same experience too. But be assured also that once the formula dries a bit with age, it does not become TOO dry or uncomfortable to wear, and removal was as easy as with most any other mascara just with a normal eye makeup-removing -safe facial cleanser and didn't create too much of a mess or staining effect underneath the eyes either

As for the specific ingredients, Vitamin E is said to help condition the lashes and rice bran oil and caranuba wax are just some of the natural-based and slightly more wholesome ingredients helping the lashes look and feel their best and stay in place. I don't see too much improvement in the strength or health of my lashes from using this mascara as opposed to others, but it makes me feel good to know that this well-performing formula is made with nice ingredients and, perhaps more importantly, without so much of the types of dyes, waxes, and such in more conventional mascaras that can cause eye irritation in some, and as someone who has struggled with more eye irritation in the past few years me specifically.

The Jones Road The Mascara is a pleasure to use and is perhaps just the thing for those wanting a fluffy, bushy, curvy natural-looking lash effect with some more natural ingredients too. You can pick up a tube of this for $22 USD at JonesRoadBeauty.com.
