Throughout these last few months a new skincare related term and problem therein has emerged-- "maskne"-- or otherwise, the ramp up of clogged pores and acne as well as other marks of skin irritation that are a side effect of wearing face coverings as we move out and about. Today, I thought I'd share a little bit about my current go-to for addressing these issues-- GLAMGLOW's Supermud Clearing Treatment.
Though I strongly believe that there are both no "instant miracles" and truly no "does it all" products in the realm of skincare. I have to say Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment comes VERY close to it. I had first become aware pf this product when my best friend and sister (who has really been stepping up her own personal skincare game this year) raved about it AND showed me the self-shot "before and after" photos of her first time using the mask. Her skin looked so smooth and perfectly clear and her tone so even and glowing with no visible sign of a pore in sight that I knew I had to give this one a go.
The Glam Glow Supermud Cleansing Treatment is a fast-acting blend of activated charcoal (used to draw out excess sebum) and proprietary complexes of kaolin clay, a six acid blend of lactic, salicylic, glycolic, mandelic, tartaric, and pyruvic acids (to resurface skin and help with its tone, texture, pH balance, and the appearance of pores). These specially-designed powerhouses are then combined with many other skin toning and soothing ingredients such as eucalyptus, cucumber, chamomile, and comfrey leaf (to name a few) to make one of the most well-rounded-sounding formulas I've ever come across, and it does indeed deliver as promised.
As someone with who has had chronically dry skin from birth, I have often shied away from most charcoal and clay-based products and have admittedly never tried a full-on leave-on mud mask treatment in my life. But while my skin dry and quite prone to dehydration, my pores can get clogged just as anyone's (and from the dead skin cells when my skin decides to flake off especially), and I am no stranger to the hormone, sickness, or food-related breakout either, so even I could use a clearing treatment every now and again. And let me tell you, that my results perfectly echo those experienced by my friend. My skin felt so fresh and light after using this, and the hormonal breakout that had been plaguing me for days was shrunk to almost nothing and even the traces of longer-held scars were noticeably lightened and have stayed that way. And my skin felt instantly soft and smoothed-- and this way from a clay mask that gave me a deep cleaning? ! I was completely floored, and after repeated uses (averaging about once per week), I am totally hooked, and the results have only gotten better! And if ever the mask does bring out a blemish to heal, it is usually caught early and is small and hardly noticeable and does not have the painful, throbbing inflammation that many of my blemishes have had in the past. Best of all, they heal quickly and much faster than before
What I love the most about the Supermud is that it is high potency and high effect but with no backlash. For instance, though there is a blend of six exfoliating acids here, I have never felt a burning or uncomfortable stinging sensation, and though you can feel a pulling sensation sometimes as the mask works to unclog some more deeply-blocked pores, it never hurts or adds any undue pressure onto the skin.; As someone with pretty thin and sensitive skin, I cannot express how much I appreciate this as so often more active products really can be too harsh and while they might solve or address one concern, they can often create another, especially with long-term or more regular use. Not so with this! I also love how adaptable this product is. Leaving it on for five minutes for a quick mask or 15-30 for a longer session, or just using it over a single pimple and wearing it overnight all give me clear and improved skin by the time I do rinse it off.
So if you, like me, want a skincare product that will address a variety of concerns and do so in a quick yet nonaggressive way, I highly recommend giving GlAMGLOW Supermud Clearing Treatment a try. Whether you make it a weekly spa treatment at home or simply use it as a spot treatment for trouble zones or keep it for the errant pimple emergency that happens once in a blue moon, I think you will a find a way to incorporate it that will suit you. You can find it at Sephora and Glam Glow's website in a variety of sizes and packaging styles for whatever is best for you-- the standard 1.7 tub for $59, a 1 oz tube for $35, a mini-sized 0,5 tub for $25, or the supersized 3.4 oz tube for $82. All prices are USD.
