Fur Skincare is an all-natural cruelty-free, and vegan company co-founded by friends and fellow entrepreneurs Laura Schubert and Lillian Tung that has skyrocketed in popularity over the last two years. What started off as an indie brand made popular on social media now seems to be available in almost every department store and high-end beauty retailer. (Nordstrom, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, and now Ulta). Even more notably, customer response seems all but unanimously positive. I received their hero product, Fur Oil, as a gift last October from my best friend and sister. She had seen a lot of online publicity about Fur Skincare and Fur Oil specifically, tried it herself, loved it, and got it for me.

Before this review goes any further, I must say that I do not use Fur Oil for the purpose for which it's usually marketed. As the name of the brand alludes to, this product was and is intended for use on the bikini line as a protecting and hydrating product to help prep the skin and soften the hair for hair removal and help to calm any irritation afterwards. Though I have not tried it for these purposes, I have absolutely no doubt that this product does phenomenally at those jobs. But I, and the lovely lady who got the product for me, mainly use Fur Oil as a facial oil either as a one-step moisturizer or layered with a cream on top. The functions of this oil cover everything from clarifying, to brightening, to soothing, to being lightly but effectively moisturizing. Because it was originally formulated in part for the delicate skin of the bikini area, the ingredients in Fur Oil, though powerful, have been combined carefully, so even those who have sensitive skin like I do, will likely find this a gentle but effective blend.

My skin's overall balance has greatly improved from using this twice daily. It feels a lot smoother, and my redness has been greatly reduced. My skin also feels much more plump and moisturized without feeling greasy or clogged at all. I think this is largely due to its base being a combination of grapeseed and jojoba oils. Grapeseed oil is a very lightweight oil that sinks into the skin very quickly while also working through any clogged pores. Jojoba oil, though a slightly denser oil than grapeseed, has a very similar structure to our skin's own natural oils, so the skin knows how to "accept it" without causing any irritation. Smooth, silky skin is the result, and because the oil is so lightweight, it wears really well with any base makeup product, and you do not have to wait a long time for Fur Oil to sink in before starting your makeup.

I also really appreciate the essential oils used here-- mainly tea tree. clary sage, and lemon peel. The tea tree oil is at a very low percentage but still provides a wonderful toning and clarifying effect, helping to calm and heal any breakouts I may have and help keep new ones from coming but without being too harsh, The clary sage oil really helps to add more of a cushiony feel to this oil blend and also enriches the skin with moisture. I wrote article on the many benefits of clary sage linked here. Lemon peel oil, another favorite ingredient of mine included in Fur Oil. provides a small dose of Vitamin C to help brighten the skin and even out its tone. As a bonus, it leaves a soft but bright citrus scent that is particularly nice when you use Fur Oil in the ends of your hair to add some extra moisture.

Last but not least, I love how affordable Fur Oil is compared to other oil blends made by other skincare companies. Currently, at the time of this review, you can get a bottle of Fur Oil for $46 USD for a 2.5 oz bottle on the Fur Skincare official website FurYou.com or wherever else the product is sold. I have found that this is about double or more the size of many facial oils on the market and about half the price of of many other comparable face and body oils on the market. One bottle easily lasts me over half a year with use most every morning and night. Fur Oil is also sold in a bundle on their website with their Ingrown Concentrate which works to treat existing ingrown hairs, other raised bumps, or areas of localized redness on the skin.

Fur Oil by Fur Skincare deserves every bit of praise it has received. It is truly a wonder product, not just in how well it performs and what all benefits it provides, but in it truly being the quintessence of a multi-tasker. It truly might be the only beauty oil you ever need. I highly recommend you give it a try!
