I have reviewed a lot of great exfoliating and resurfacing products on La Petite Rose, but If there ever was one, to me, that was ideally perfect for dry and/or sensitive skin it would be the DHC Moisture-Rich Clarifying Peel.
What makes this peel unique is that it is neither aggressively physical no overtly chemical. There is no scrubby bits of seeds, kernels, and husks, nor is there any direct source of high-percentage exfoliating acid. How this peel works is by binding to dry, dead skin cells when applied damp skin. Then as you massage the solution on, the dead skin is gently rolled away from the face. This is a far cry from the skin being scratched or scrubbed, and yet the end result leaves the most even-looking, soft-to-the-touch skin I’ve ever experienced immediately after rinsing. And thanks to the combination of grapefruit and lemon peel, the skin is left incredibly smooth and glasslike. These ingredients also provide a very minimal chemical resurfacing based on the naturally-occurring acids within these acids. However, I do not experience one bit of redness or sign of irritation from using this product, even temporarily. I am always used to a few seconds of flushing after exfoliating with any other product, so this is a most welcome change.
More than the gentleness of the actives in this product is how soft—and I would even to as so far as to say conditioned— my skin feels after using this. I would say that this due to the ceramides and collagen cooked into the base of these formula, which seem to not only cushion the experience of the exfoliating but also seem to protect and amp up the skin barrier during the treatment. My skin never feels like it’s crying or serum or moisturizer after using, and this is something I’ve truly never known before. With all other exfoliating products, including the ones I’ve loved and have recommended, there was always the feeling that something had been “taken” from my skin, which, of course, there is truth to that. But there was never a feeling of replenishment. Using the Moisture-Rich Peel, it feels like has truly been babied in its journey to becoming baby soft. And that is something very, very special.
If you are looking for a spa treatment-worthy product that proves that you don’t need to be harsh with your skin in order to see great results, I totally think that DHC’s Moisture-Rich Peel is an answer above answers. A 4.9 oz bottle retails for $20 on the DHC website, DHCCare.com and Ulta.com
