There are few brands both more classic and more wholesome and more legend in the world of Green/natural-based Beauty than Burt's Bees, They remain one of favorite brands across the board for skincare, bodycare, and even color cosmetics. Perhaps the most beloved of their items for me, though, is their iconic lipbalm.
Available in both both colorless and tinted varieties, the classic beeswax lip balm is one of the most hydrating and longlasting formulas of balm I've ever tried. Though conditioning I love how thin these formulas are, not gloopy or or sticky at all, but with little as one wearing, dry, flaky lips are smoothed down and a healthy sheen reappears to them.
The untinted versions of the lip balm make great bases for lip color , as they adhere nicely to the surface of the lips but have no slippy shine to make the color on top slide off. I particularly enjoy the slight, refreshing tingle of the Original Beeswax formula, but I also like the flavors of the Pomegranate and the Vanilla too. I love that the flavors come from real, 100% natural ingredients so there is nothing sickly, or synthetic-tasting.
Where this product truly shines for me, though, is in their tinted varieties. I have never come across a tinted lip balm with quite so much color payoff as these, yet each color is soft and natural-looking and all seem to be easily adaptable across all skintones and undertones. My personal favorite shades are Hibiscus, a rosy peachy pink, Red Dahlia, a sheer but deep brown-toned cranberry, and my favorite, Sweet Violet, a clear pale pink with a lavender mauve undertone. Though in a balm format, each of these colors is so beautiful, buildable, and longwearing that they easily could pass for a real lipstick, and Sweet Violet especially is one of my favorite lipcolors of all time, especially to wear in Spring.
Yet, whether you decide to go for a color or stick with the untinted varieties, Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm are truly one of the best lip conditioners out their and are award-winning classics for a reason and to this day are easily accessible and affordable. You can find them at most grocery stores and drugstores for about $3 USD each and sometimes in multipacks, which allow you to try many colors and flavors at once. Have fun experimenting, and give these a try! Your lips will thank you for it!
