For many years now, serums have been a neglected step in my skincare routine. I have not tried many recently, and most of the ones I have ever tried have not been so impressive as to become a longstanding staple. However, when my best friend and sister told me about her tremendous experience of using the cult classic, model-beloved Biotherm Aquasource Aura Concentrate, I was more than happy that she also gave me a bottle so that I could discover its magic for myself. Let me tell you... I am now hooked!
Aquasource Aura Concentrate is at its core a hydrating serum with also some moisturizing and glow-enhancing benefits as well as Biotherm's trademarked LifePlankton, a proprietary source of plankton rich with 35 nutrients including proteins and lipids aimed to build up the skin and advance its function and overall strength and general health. As someone who has a genetically deficient skin barrier as well as being a dry, sensitive skin type, adding vitality, strength as well as suppleness to my skin is both a challenge and a great necessity. And as crazy as this might be to say, I noticed a palpable difference, both visually and texturally, in my skin with the very first use. Just a penny- sized amount of this product emulsified in my hands then smoothed on my face instantly dissolved the usual, dry tight, and pully feeling my face has so often that I almost forget that skin is supposed to feel any different. The look of redness on my cheeks was instantly subdued and a bit of healthy glow had taken its place, and, best of all, my skin was not sucking up all the hydrating goodness of this serum so instantly that it was left parched and begging for an oil moisturizer to be slathered on immediately (in fact, I wore my first-ever layer of Aura Concentrate on my face for four hours or more without anything on top of it and was as perfectly plump, glowing, and comfortable in my skin as I was when I first put it on).
Of course, I still layer it with my Tweak'd by Nature cream and many face oil for long-term use for an extra-moisturizing treat to wear throughout the days and evenings for a more comprehensive routine. Happily, this serum pairs beautifully with it all without ever feeling greasy and without ever pilling. But the hydrating and nutritive benefits of the Aura Concentrate are so great and so long-lasting, that I might venture to say that someone with oilier skin may be able to get away with using only this product as a single moisturizing step, especially in warmer weather. In terms of using it, especially in warmer weather, I love its cool (but not tingly or mentholy) refreshing feel when it is first applied as well as its soft spa-like scent. Those who are allergic to fragrance in skincare products may want to steer clear of this, but for those who may just dislike scent in their products, I'd still recommend giving this one a chance as the scent is light and does dissipate fairly fast.
Talking more of Aura Concentrate's ingredients. it is a well-balanced blend of water-binding ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate, a derivative of hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and salt, as well as more lipid-enhancing ingredients such as squalane and macademia nut oil as well as a small bit of brightening ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) , which gives the awesome radiance boost and may in part, along with its green pigment and other more hydrating ingredients, , contribute to the continued reduction my overall redness and the more even tone and texture I am seeing. And I am also pleased to say that my friend's experience has continued to be very much the same. Like me, she also has somewhat fair and redness and dehydration-prone skin and truly considers the Aura Concentrate to be the true gamechanger and cornerstone of her skincare regime, and we both could not recommend this product more!
To try the Biotherm Aquasource Aura Concentrate yourself, you can find it on the Biotherm USA website as well as on Amazon. It currently retails for $51 USD for a 1.69 oz bottle. For a truly wonderful, easy to use, and fast results hydration and glow boost in your skincare routine, I highly recommend this product for anyone to try.
