The start of any new year swings open the door of possibility and opportunity to try new things. For me, this does not extend to just life in general but also in my beauty routine and shopping habits. So to herald La Petite Rose into 2020, I thought I'd share some resolutions I have made and some tips to share on how to reinvent a signature look for the New Year.

Change Up The Go-To Lipstick: Although, I am traditionally a red and plum lipstick girl, I have been looking to turn over a new leaf and want to venture into deeper brown and perhaps a pale pink shade to add some variety to my beloved lipcolor collection. For you, however, it may be an impulse to try brights for the first time or vampy bold colors. Whatever the reason or the occasion, I find lipcolors a fuss-free way to change the whole effect of your standard makeup routine, and since there are so many great, affordable drugstore options for lipsticks out there, you can more easily pick up a new color or two to experiment with rather than springing for a large, expensive new eyeshadow palette for example.

Add More Blush: Blush is truly a gamechanger to amp up freshness of the complexion and by extension one’s whole appearance. This could not be truer than when riding out the winter doldrums like we are now. Having said that, though, I think blush is a somewhat overlooked in the makeup world, even by myself. I do wear blush some but not always , and when I do, I usually only apply the tiniest amount. This year, I want to try more looks where cheek color is the star and the eyes and lips both take a backseat and see how I like it. Also, I am looking to diversify my color tastes in blush and experiment with more than just my favorite crimson red berry tones.

Shape Up the Eyebrows: Ideal brow shape and style varies greatly from person to person both because of everyone’s face and eye shape and also because of personal preference. I only have ever extended the tails of my brows with light dashings of brow shadow, but I would personally love to try a bolder brow look and fill them in. Like blush, emphasized and polished brows really add a lot of liveliness to and highlight the structure of the whole face but do so in a very natural way. But knowing what brow shape and style you like the best on yourself can really take any existing makeup look you do to the next level. I am eager to find out what my best brows will be.

Of course, it does not need to be the New Year for anyone to try something new. But in case the dawn of 2020 has inspired you to shake up your beauty routine, these are three suggestions that I am going to try that may also help you get started. Cheers to pushing our own beauty boundaries in whatever ways we choose, and seeing all of what 2020 has in store!
