Both for this blog and just throughout my life, I have tried many a different makeup item and have many of the same types of products that I would consider a "favorite" . Today, I thought it would be fun to do a hard-hitting round-up of my current absolute favorite makeup item in each category that I currently rely on-- and products that could be my one and onlys for the rest of my life.
Base: Bareminerals Bisque Concealer($26 USD at Sephora.com and Ulta.com): Bareminerals Bisque Concealer is the pinnacle of staples in my makeup routine and has been for almost two decades now. I love the mostly natural ingredients and the lightweight feel of this product. Plus, it actually looks like skin. A little of this loose mineral powder goes a long way, but it is also easy to layer as more coverage is desired. I do think the array of tones (light to deep) as well as undertones (warm to cool) could be improved a bit, but overall the shades seem to be forgiving enough for each one to serve an array of people.
Blush: Glossier Cloud Paint ($18 USD at Glossier.com) : I don't use any other complexion makeup regularly except for concealer and a good blush. Glossier Cloud Paint is another repeated favorite of blushes in my memory. It is a liquid blush that can be a bit tricky to learn how to handle at first, but once you master getting just the teeniest dot at a time, it is truly magic. The formula offers the prettiest watercolor effect on the cheeks that can be quite understated or be built up to be quite artistic. I have used an sample many shades, and you can read about them and my extended thoughts on the Cloud Paint here. But I will say my two favorite colors of the moment are Dusk and Puff,
Mascara: Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara ($28 USD at Sephora.com, $13 mini size also available): Ilia Limitless Lash is a recent favorite that has skyrocketed in my affections. It was the first Green Beauty mascara I had ever encountered that didn't smudge horrendously on me or irritate my eyes. Since then , I have discovered other and retried more updated versions of other Green Beauty mascaras that have also made a positive impression, but the drama and impact and sheer length that this mascara offers is just incredible. It is a stellar formula that I will keep recommending and coming back to. The effect is also so high drama that I find myself skipping eyeshadow and liner more and more now, and what could be easier to put on than just a few swipes of mascara. Read more about Limitless Lash and two other Green Beauty mascaras I tried here.
Lipstick: Glossier Gen G Lipstick ($18 Glossier.com and Sephora.com ) Another Glossier product, yes, but one that I just couldn't leave off the list. This lipstick is the original lipcolor I ever reviewed on La Petite Rose. Noted for its, popsicle stain finish, Glossier Gen G lipstick is one of the most comfortable purely matte lipsticks I've ever tried, and the ever-expanding shade selection is a most glorious bloom of colors that can be worn sheerly or with more full impact, and this versatility of wear makes every shade adaptable and wearable for everyone. My classic favorite shade for years has been Jam (a purpley berry), but the new rose red tone of Punch has surpassed it. I also love Like a wearable neutral pink with slight mayve undertones and also love the watermelon punch of Crush and the subdued yet nuanced chocolatey brown of Leo. Once again, I feel any lipstick lover will find one if not multiple colors to adore and the formula just can't be beat.
Gushing about products is notably one of my favorite pastimes and doing an ode to some of my longest-standing stalwarts is an even bigger pleasure. I truly don't know if these beauties will ever be surpassed in my affections, but the journey to brighter stars is always so fun. Thank you for coming on this beauty journey with me,
