The first beauty brand that springs to my mind when thinking of pure French decadence is L'Occitane en Provence (commonly known just as L'Occitane). This beautiful maker of luxury skincare, bodycare, and fragrance has been around since 1976 and remains true to their origins of distilling the finest, most beautifully-scented plants from France's famous Provence region to care for our skin.
One of, if not their most, iconic line of products is their Amande (French for almond) range, and especially the shower oil in that scent. I've had it on and off throughout my life and have always enjoyed it, but nowadays, it has really become a staple. The oil itself has an amazing quality of both being moisturizing to my dry skin, while still being lightweight enough to rinse cleanly and leave me feeling refreshed out of the shower instead of feeling sticky throughout the day and getting on my clothes. This shower oil is also a lot thinner than most other shower oils I've tried so it doesn't make the tub feel slick at all as you try to move about. That said, this thin texture spreads really easily, and a little goes a super long way with this product to get both enough product for wash and also to get a lovely dose of its gorgeous aroma.
The scent itself is much more like an almond blossom than an almond nut. In other words, it is more floral and botanical than gourmand and decadent, but this is actually something that I like about it. A lot of times, I find that overly-sweet scents used in the bath don't make me feel fresh enough. But this allows me to have a little sweetness inside a mostly fresh scent. There is also a note of zingy, warm bergamot used in the mix here, which I also enjoy.
On its own, the standard 16.9 oz of this shower oil costs $42 USD, wherever LOccitane is sold. They also sell, both on the L'Occitane website and at some other retails an eco-recharge refiller, that gives you a sachet of 16.9 oz of the shower oil to refill your empty bottle for $36. But anyplace where the Amande shower oil is sold also frequently has this product included in many gift sets, where it is a much better buy. I'd suggest checking out Sephora and QVC the most for the best deals on these gift sets, which may include the matching lotion or the famous hand cream in the same Amande scent (both of which are also lovely) or any other gorgeous item from L'Occitane. If you are looking to treat someone special in your life (in any way) to treat them (maybe even for next Valentine's for something tres romantique) I highly suggest picking up the Amande Shower Oil or anything else from this beautiful , classic brand.
