Beauty Buzz Spotlight: Style Theory Video "Skincare is a SCAM!"

Style Theorists is a fun and informative YouTube channel I have dabbled in watching on occasion that makes videos encompassing a lot of systems, industry practices, standards, and theories that involving the broad spectrum of the beauty and fashion world founded by famed YouTuber MatPat. On the channel, you will find beauty hack tests, explorations of color theory some product reviews of both beauty items and clothing, and some takes on beauty science and history.

One video recommended to me recently is salaciously titled: "Skincare is a SCAM!" This sweeping 20- minute watch covers a lot of the commonly accepted skincare industry claims and tropes inspiring us to by more product and the longstanding origins with humanity's desire to look better and truly what that even means. Going back to traditions of Ancient Egypt, we learn that Earth's oldest cultures had a desire for clear and youthful skin and developed ways to hopefully attain such. But this desire seems to run much deeper and mean much more than looking one's best or healthiest and instead gave way to what became an impractical and unachievable obsession with youth that permeates the skincare world and the global beauty industry today. The video offers many historical factoids and much philosophical food for thought to chew on as well as exposing some of the common inconsistencies in the beauty world when it comes to product claims and verifying those claims trough scientific testing-- a much talked-about topic here on La Petite Rose too! So if you enjoy my content here, I definitely think this video (and many of Style Theories) are worth a watch. Click here to see it in full.
