Hi friends,

It was recently brought to my attention that a very common ingredient used in many beauty and self-care items, talc and talcum powder, may pose some health and safety concerns. Specifically, it has been linked to skin and eye irritation and is also strongly suspected as a carcinogen, namely heightening risks of both ovarian and uterine cancers.

Though I have used (and have recommended on La Petite Rose) products that contain talc, I am now looking to limit, if not one day eliminate, nonessential talc-containing products from my life, given these risks, especially avoiding it in bath and shower products.

We are all on our own journey and have our own approaches to taking care of ourselves in both health and beauty, and no one thing poses the same amount of risk to one person as it might another Everyone must use their own discernment to make the choices that are right for them.

As always, my goal with La Petite Rose is simply to share my thoughts on all things beauty and my personal journeys with products and to provide you with the best information I can to inform your own journeys and choices along the way.

You can read more information regarding talc usage, possible risk factors, and its place in cosmetics in this article here.
