With everything that has been going on in our world recently, we are all understandably feeling uncertain, scared, and more down than usual. While it will never solve every problem, indulging in beauty products and acts of pampering self-care can really provide a lot of comfort. Here are three of my favorite special beauty behaviors to help chase some of the blues away.
Play Dress-Up With Your Makeup: Whether your makeup bag is minimal or you have a collection that could fill a mansion, most of us have shades and products we use more regularly than others. But when I’m feeling down, I always think it’s fun to get creative and give a bit more love to underused or overlooked items a bit of extra love and just see what kind of looks I can come up with. For me, this is especially true with using brighter-colored eyeshadow, but you might experiment with super vampy smoky eyes or a super shimmery highlighter that seems like it would gleam from outer space for this experiment. The point here is just to simply explore your makeup and play and play and play with no rules, no limits, and maybe even doing multiple widely different looks in one playtime session.
Soak in a Tub or Steam in a Long Shower: There is nothing like the simple pleasure of warm water for the wellness of both the body and the mind. Physically, the hot water helps the body to release toxins and get deeply cleansed, boosting circulation and the immune system especially, but mentally hardly anything can be more rejuvenating than turning your bathroom into your own personal spa. Light some candles, pick some cozy-smelling oils or shower gels to slather your skin, and pop on a face mask— even the simplest mixture of a mashed up avocado and a drizzle of honey can be tremendously softening and glow-giving. Also try putting on some favorite music or read or listen to a book and let yourself escape into the story for an emotional recharge.
Do Your Nails: If you are anything like me, because of constraints of time and the effort, I find that painting my nails is one of my least-done beauty habits. However, when I do it, it always feels like a treat. For whatever glossy slick of creamy paint in a pretty or fun color on the nails or maybe a glitter top coat really does a lot to cheer up the week, especially when you catch glimpse of it as you type or do household chores. And really, itonly takes about 20 mins to do and have one coat dry, which is all it really takes to get some color on your nails. And if it chips or fades fast, because its only one coat, maybe take that as an invitation to try on a new color or just to have another pamper moment all over again.
Stress relief and self-care comes In many forms both profound and playful. But though it may seem simple, I hope these beauty tips shared on La Petite Rose now and always help you find ways to feel better, feel beautiful, and give you a lovely little indulgence any day you want or need. Stay well and safe, everyone, and much love!
