2022 is here, bringing a fresh new start with new opportunities, challenges, excitement, and beginnings to us all. I like to start off each new here on the blog talking about the ways in which I am hoping to spice up my routines and my relationship with beauty on the whole. Here are my top three.
Try More From Lesser-Known or Independent Brands: It is a particular interest of mine to support smaller, more up and coming, or just less-talked-about brands this year. I am particularly interested in those that belong to the more Green or natural-based beauty space, but really, this applies to any brand that might just not have yet found their way into drugstores, Sephora, Ulta, or most major retailers. Doing this not only will help these brands financially but also it will give me the chance to broaden my scope of makeup and skincare and try even more new things. Of course, I will share the best of what I may find with you in the coming months and years. I cannot wait to start exploring!
Play With More Colorful Blushes: A few years ago, I really started to develop a newfound liking for blush and the way it not only perks up with skin but also becomes the perfect unifying bridge between the eyes and lips to create a balanced and cohesive makeup look. But primarily, my tastes have been leaning to more neutral or else to rich, muted berry blushes. This year, I am looking towards more colorful colors like pink and lilac for something fresh. I encourage everyone here to consider picking a favorite makeup item but trying to get your hands on one color that is outside of your comfort zone and start playing. It will be fun to see how you feel about it. It may just be the jolt you would have never guessed your makeup collection was missing!
Find Some Great Lip Glosses and Balms: I will forever be the queen of the traditional bullet lipstick. Lately, however, and for the past several months, I have been struggling with having drier lips and have been reaching for balms and craving more glosses and glossy-finished things than ever. So I am taking this as an opportunity to further expand my lip wardrobe and repertoire. I'll be curious to know what formulas strike a chord with me (and, again, will be telling you about what I find) and if the formula switch-up will also diversify the colors I am drawn to. So often, we will be drawn to colors in one finish or saturation like a matte red lipstick but only wear pinks, for example, in a gloss form. So playing with different finishes of lipcolor is a great way to perhaps try a color you may not otherwise.
These are just three of the many New Year's Resolutions I have swimming around in my head for beauty and more. I always look forward to the New Year as a time of reinvention for myself, not to do away with the old completely, but to grow even more into myself by doing things in a fresh way and learning more about myself and what I like. It is such a fun and informative process, and I hope you will enjoy taking your own, similar journey alongside me. Happy New Year!
